MACADAMIA MILK
Macadamia nut milk contains a higher amount of healthy monounsaturated fats which are believed to lessen inflammation in the body, reduce bad cholesterol levels, and help your regular cell function. In other words, they're full of good fat, and have zero of the harmful trans fats. Macadamia milk is great on its own but why not try it in your favorite smoothie.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup of raw unsalted macadamia nuts
- 4 cups of water (plus more for soaking)
- 1 vanilla pod scraped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (optional)
METHOD
- Place the macadamia nuts in a large bowl and cover them completely with water
- Soak the macadamia nuts for at least two hours
- Discard the water and rinse well
- Place the macadamia nuts, 4 cups of water, vanilla and/or maple syrup if using, in a food processor or high-speed blender
- Blend for 2-3 minutes until completely smooth
- Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth or nut milk bag
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and remember to shake before using
