OUR STORY
In a nutshell, we’re a small family-owned and operated macadamia farm, nestled in picturesque Central Queensland. Our farm boasts approximately 10,000 hand planted and nurtured macadamia trees, and we take great pride in our regenerative and sustainable farming practices.
At our farm, we believe in “farming for the future”, so we are on the ground constantly in search of new ways to close the loop on circular agriculture and improve our sustainable farming practices. Circular agriculture focuses on using minimal amounts of external inputs, closing nutrient loops, regenerating soils, and minimising the impact on the environment. We intend on keeping our farm healthy and promoting a way of farming that is better for everyone.
Nutrient-rich
Our nutrient-rich water primarily comes from a 500-megalitre lake and numerous aquaculture ponds located on our farm. We use the water to feed our trees and store any excess water in one of our storage dams following a fish harvest (see Greenacres Aquaculture). By doing so, we are minimising our demand for external inputs and eliminating a significant environmental impact resulting from discharges and runoff.
Producing healthy soil is fundamental to the production of our high-quality nuts. So we are building up organic matter in the soil under our trees to improve soil fertility and promote biodiversity. We’re encouraging the establishment of beneficial bugs on our farm to control pests through meticulous orchard management, further reducing our demand on external inputs, and reducing our environmental impact. All our power needs to look after the trees and process the macadamia nuts are fully offset by an integrated solar system.
Australia’s ongoing prosperity
Agriculture has an integral role in Australia’s ongoing prosperity and decarbonisation. We are very proud of storing more carbon on our farm than we emit. This practice is referred to as being carbon-negative. Our stored carbon also means that we can offset other organisations carbon emissions. Being carbon-negative is an enormous environmental benefit and is of the utmost importance to us and our family, so that we can provide a greener future for everyone.

NUTRITION
The presence of good fats, prebiotic fibre, protein, low sugar and sodium, and a range of minerals including antioxidants, means that macadamia nuts can help lower cholesterol, fight inflammation, support positive gut health, promote brain function, and reduce the risk of chronic disease.
Macadamia nuts are naturally gluten-free, vegan, keto, and paleo friendly because they are a plant-based superfood that can be consumed directly from the tree. In fact, macadamia nuts are also grain-free, low carb, and low GI, making them one of the friendliest diet whole foods.
Macadamia nuts are an excellent source of the “good fats” needed to sustain ketosis. Omega fatty acids are key dietary fats that are essential to our bodies because they provide both energy and absorption of vitamins and minerals.
They are also a good source of manganese – a mineral needed for many of the body’s functions, including fat and carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption, and blood sugar regulation.
GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE ALTERNATIVE
Apart from eating them raw, macadamia nuts also have many varied uses. They work well in both sweet and savoury dishes, adding crunch and texture, and can be used as a gluten-free and dairy alternative. Tossing a handful of them into your salad, stir fry, cookie batter or smoothie, they elevate normal recipes into sublime creations!!
STORAGE AND FOOD SAFETY
To keep your nuts fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three months. Alternatively, refrigerate them to extend their freshness for up to six months or freeze them for up to one year. Before eating, allow the nuts to return to room temperature to ensure they taste their nutty best.
